My story in short
by DeWandelaar ini am visiting this site for quite some time now and now i think it is time to tell something about me and my experience.
without giving away my name (i am in "fade mode"): i am from the small country they call the netherlands, the land of wooden shoes, tulips, cheese and too many inhabitants per square meter.
i am married with children and a second generation jw.

A personal message to you lurking Jehovah's Witnesses out there
by Terry inwhile you were sitting in that uncomfortable folding chair the other night.... listening to something you've heard already a thousand times before.... do you know what was happening at the same time?.
somebody somewhere else was studying a real textbook.
somebody was cramming for a college exam.

Did reading Jwfacts help you? Please take a moment to say thanks..
by The Quiet One init seems as though so many of the stories of people who are now mentally free that i read on here involved reading jwfacts.com at some point along the way.. he basically saved my sanity (questionable, i know!
), and was never as sensational and garish as other sites which immediately scared me away.
why not take a minute out of your day to say thanks for any difference that jwfacts made to your life, and tell us what it was that helped you?...
-
Aunt Fancy
Yes! Thank you JWfacts along with Ray Franz, Diane Wilson, JWnet, JWSurvey, JWStruggle and a hots of others out there. I give out the websites to all of these to help others along with a number of books. I am truly very thankful for all of those who work hard to inform us.

how do you cope with the stress of fading?
by brainmelt ini'm really struggling with it.
i've been learning the ttatt for the past 6 months now and i've been inadvertantly fading - either one of us or the children have had coughs/colds/flu/chicken pox/stress over the past 3 months which has meant we've missed a lot of meetings and field service with good reason.
we've only been out in service twice this year, so far no ones mentioned it to us but i'm waiting for our group overseer to bring it up anytime soon.

Aunt Fancy
Just take your time and keep researching, it does get better with time. Don't rush into anything, time is on your side. We didn't make any quick decisions and I feel that helped us. I too got sick every time I thought about the meetings. It caused me so many health problems and i never realized until i started to fade what it actually robbed me of. i was a healthy vibrant woman then got involved in the religion and within a few years my health went so far down hill. Think about your health and your family. I would hate to hear that your health went down hill too. I was very fortunate my husband started to fade with me because I was able to get him to read C of C. It sounds like your husband has his doubts too and he may be afraid to tell you how he really feels. Read the books that were recommended and they will help you make the right decision for you and your family. You are young and your children are not indoctrinated at the point which is a plus. Your children will thank you one day if you can break free of this cult. I wish you the best and we are always here for you.

Local needs talk
by hoser inone of the elders was missing his service bag and suspected that one of the publishers stole it.
he was determined to root out who did it so he decided to give a local needs part on the ten commandments focusing on you must not steal.. he enlisted the help of a trusted ministerial servant and got him to stand at the back of the kingdom hall during the part.
he told the ms that he would read off the ten commandments and when he got to the one "you must not steal" he would pause longer than usual and see if anyone acted nervous or suspicious.

by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inthis isn't a jw experience, but for those of you that have been following my life, i thought i'd have a drink and share this strange event in my post-jw life.. for you wonderful newbies, you can catch up on highlights of my story in the few threads i've started here.
i'm finishing the junior year of my engineering degree and the classes are hard as hell.
i used to be among the smartest students in the room until i hit the 300 level university courses.

slavenomore
by Slavenomore inleaving the org was not a doctrinal choice for me as it was for many on this board.
i left mentally because of the boredom and then i physically left by being dfd.
i have been reading here for about a month or so and now i know i made the right decision.

Aunt Fancy
Welcome Slavenomore, I found your story very interesting and will look forward to your posts. I want to thank you for being kind to that young sister. A friend of mine has a daughter who ended up in a JC and when she got home she was so sucicidal that they called the Secretary and said "what did you do to my daughter"? That jerk of an elder said in a sarcastic voice said "oh what is she going to do, kill herself"!! My husband was an ledger for many years and stepped down because of the nonscense that went on. I am glad you found a wonderful wife you can enjoy your life wih. Isn't it wonderful to be free?? I would love to hear the rest especially how your parents feel. My family is so happy I am out.

New member says hey
by jay dubless ini have lurked now and then, just decided to join.. my older brother and i were raised by our jw mom, but our dad was a non-practicing catholic.
so we went to the hall, but were considered "weak" witnesses, since our family still celebrated xmas and birthdays, to appease my dad i suppose.
as a kid, i loved these holidays.. anyways, when my brother was 17 (i was 13), he spent a few weeks with our cousins in ky, who are all gung-ho j-dubs, and upon his return, he decided he was going to be more "theocratic".

Welcome Jay, I hope someday you will have a relationship with your brother again.

New light Watchtower magazine leaked from organization weeks ahead of general release
by cedars inhttp://jwsurvey.org/governing-body-2/new-light-watchtower-magazine-leaked-from-organization-weeks-ahead-of-general-release.
if doctrinal explanations are missing from the article, it is because they are also missing from the magazine.. i would like to give my thanks again to my source for supplying me with the magazine article weeks ahead of its scheduled release.
it showed remarkable courage, because risks were taken.

Thanks Cedars, I know you must put a lot of time into your articles and the site and I appreciate it and also thanks to the person who leaked this article. Keep up the good work!
